So it's finally arrived. The final days of the 2008 New York Yankees season. With the wrapping up of the season comes the closing of the Cathedral and the beginning of the endless questioning process that will be the offseason. It's hard to believe the season is ending. It seems like just recently the season began with relative optimism and excitement. The young guns were ready, our veterans and big guys had been resigned, and the feeling of goodwill from avoiding the Santana deal was energizing Yankee fans. Despite the early season mantra that this season was going to be different it still feels like the same old Yankees. Injuries, uninspiring and at times lethargic play, and of course underproduction has yet again defined another season. This season however will live with the stigma of being the first season post-Torre and the season that will break the '95-'07 playoff run. With those lovely "first" accomplishments, this season will be the final played in Yankee Stadium. No one could have really pictured a more lackluster season being the "final season."
So where do we go from here? We will find out.
